See the ResourcesThe Community Safety Working Group is a coalition of more than 100 civil rights, public health, racial justice, housing, violence prevention, economic justice, and allied organizations dedicated to building safety that works for all communities. Our goal is to advance a new paradigm that invests in people and communities, not police and prisons, to keep people safe.
The People’s Response Act will establish a Division on Community Safety at the Department of Health and Human Services, then use this Division to fund community safety nationwide.
The Break the Cycle of Violence Act will make landmark investments in community violence intervention (CVI) programs nationwide and create an Office of Community Violence Intervention at the Department of Health and Human Services.
The Mental Health Justice Act would make historic investments in alternative crisis response programs that send social workers in lieu of police officers to respond to mental health crises.
